Copernicus workshop

Copernicus Workshop on Climate Observation Requirements
29 June - 2 July, ECMWF, Reading UK
Defining content for the Climate Data Store

This workshop may be of interest to the CCI community. The ECMWF are responsible for operating the Copernicus Climate Change Services (C3S). The aim of the C3S is to provide European stakeholders, including public authorities, businesses and citizens, with access to authoritative information about climate change and its impact on society.

One of the first C3S activities is the development of a Climate Data Store which will contain data and information about past, present and future climate in terms of Essential Climate Variables (ECVs) and derived climate indicators. The technical requirements and design of the C3S portal for the Climate Data Store was the subject of a separate workshop held at ECMWF 3-6 March 2015. The deadline for applications for participation is 14 April 2015.

ESA is developing a new family of satellites, the Sentinels, specifically for the operational needs of the Copernicus programme. The Sentinels will provide a unique set of observations, starting with the all-weather, day and night radar images from Sentinel-1A, which launched in April 2014.
